All Museum Services will provide some general information and recommendations on helping preserve your institution's holding and collections.

If your facility has heating or air conditioning, the settings should be for the collection, not the staff.  AMS can set up a Temperature / Humidity monitoring program to provide data on the the changes in your collection areas.

A good catalog record provides both physical and intellectual access to your collection.  When catalog record entries are consistent, researchers and staff have a much easier time locating materials in the collections.  Be consistent on all your catalog record entries.  AMS has developed guidelines and formats for cataloging in PastPerfect

Even with the shades drawn, UV light may be impacting your collection.  AMS can record Light Readings (Regular and UV) in your collection areas on regular basis to check the Light levels effecting your collections.

Properly completed Accession Records are the legal basis to establish ownership, both temporary and permanent, for an institution's holdings.  AMS can review your institution's Accession Records and documents for meeting the leagal mandates and and develop a system to maintain these records.
